Guarantee two things and be guaranteed Paradise …

In the name of Allah, all praise is due to He, The One. I send peace and blessings upon his final messenger (Al-Mustafa), and upon his family, companions, and those that followed him in righteousness until The Day of Resurrection (Youm Al-Qiyaamah). To proceed:

Guarding one’s chastity (private parts) and waiting until marriage (to have sexual relations of any sort) is nothing to be shy or embarrassed about; rather, it is something to be proud of because it is a noble thing that we were commanded to do by Allah and his messenger (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam — peace and blessings upon him). For those who uphold this religious abstinence truly for Allah’s sake (The All-Knowledgeable and The Ever-Watcher) is a great reward. Outside of the worldly reward that is quite abundantly apparent in front of us every day (ex: the mixing of lineages, sexually transmitted diseases, and etc.).

Allah says in His noble and untampered book — The Qur’an,

“And those who guard their private parts. Except in the case of their wives or those whom their right hands possess [i.e., salve girls, which are no long found at this time] for these surely are not to be blamed. But, he who seeks to go beyond this, these it is that go. And those who are faithful to their trusts and their covenant. And those who are upright in their testimonies. And those who keep a guard on their prayer. Those shall be in gardens, honored.” [1]

The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said in an authentic narration, “Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones and what is between his two legs (i.e., his tongue and his private parts), I guarantee Jannah for him.” [2]

Notice, in both the verses and the hadeeth, along with guarding your chastity Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and his messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) mention guarding of one’s tongue. This shows the equal importance placed on watching and weighing what one says. For the repercussions of being loose with both things (private parts and tongue) are of drastic proportions and not only effect the individual but the community at large.

This is a reminder for myself, first and foremost, and then to you my dear brother. I ask Allah to make us from those that when we hear we obey/act and when we act we are sincere. Anything I said that may be correct is from Allah alone, and anything I am mistaken in is from myself and the Shaytan. And All praises is due to Allah, Rubb Al-‘Alameen (Lord of the worlds).
