The Nullifiers of Islam

In the name of Allah, all praise is due to He. Peace and salutations upon the one whom no prophet came after, upon his his family, companions, and those who are guided by his guidance.

Know oh Muslim, that Allah subhaanhu (glory be to He) made it obligatory upon all of His slaves to enter Islam, adhere to it, and stay away from what opposes it. He sent his prophet Muhammad ﷺ to call to that. He ‘azza wa jal (mighty and majestic) informed us that whoever follows him has surely been guided and whoever opposes him has surely been misguided.

In numerous ayaat (verses) Allah warned us of the means of apostasy and all of the types of Shirk (associating partners with Allah) and Kufr (disbelief). Also, the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) have mentioned regarding the ruling of the apostate and that a Muslim can apostate from his religion by many ways from the nullifiers (of Islam) that make permissible his blood and money — placing them outside of Islam. From the most dangerous and that which occurs the most often are ten nullifiers that Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahab, and other than him from the people of knowledge, mentioned (may Allah have mercy on them all). We will briefly mention them for you in order for you and others to be cautious of them, hoping for peace and protection from them, along with a small clarification of them afterwards.

THE FIRST: Shirk in worship of Allah. Allah ta’ala (the exhaulted) said,

“Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills.” — Surah An-Nisa (4) : 48
He also said,
“They have certainly disbelieved who say, ” Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary” while the Messiah has said, “O Children of Israel, worship Allah , my Lord and your Lord.” Indeed, he who associates others with Allah – Allah has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire.” — Surah Al-Ma’idah (5) : 72
From that is the supplication of the dead, seeking sustenance from them, vowing by them, and slaughtering for their sake like one who slaughters for the jinn or a grave.THE SECOND: Whoever places between him and Allah intermidiaters supplicating to them, asking them for intercession, putting his reliance in them, etc has surely disbelieved in totality.

THE THIRD: Whoever does not deem the Mushrikeen (polythiest) to be disbelievers, doubts in their Kufr, or affirms their methodology has disbelieved.

THE FOURTH: Whoever believes that a guidance other than that of the Prophet ﷺ is more complete than his or that the ruling of other than him is better than his rullings, like those who prefer the ruling of the Taghoot (anything that is worshiped other than Allah) over his ruling ﷺ, then he is a Kaafir (disbeliever).

THE FIFTH: Whoever hates something from what the Messenger ﷺ came with, even if he carries out the action, has disbelieved. Due to the statement of Allah,

“That is because they disliked what Allah revealed, so He rendered worthless their deeds.” — Surah Muhammad (47) : 9
THE SIXTH: Whoever makes mockery of something from the religion of The Messenger ﷺ (his rewards or his punishes) has disbelieved. The proof for that is His exalted statement,
“Say, “Is it Allah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking?” Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after your belief.” — Surah At-Towbah (9) : 65-66
THE SEVENTH: Magic, which includes magic spells which cause a person to hate (sarf) or love (‘atf) someone/something; whoever participates in it or is please with it has disbelieved. This goes in conjunction with the statement of Allah,
“But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say, “We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic].” — Surah Al-Baqarah (2) : 102
THE EIGHTH: Supporting the Mushrikeen and aiding them against the Muslims. The proof for that is His exalted statement
“And whoever is an ally to them among you – then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.” — Surah Al-Ma’idah (5) : 51
THE NINTH: Whoever believes that it is permitted for some people to not implement the Shari’ah (religious laws and legislation) of Muhammad ﷺ, just how Khidhir did not implement the Shari’ah of Musa (‘alayhi as-salam — peace be upon him), is a Kaafir. This is in conjunction with His exalted statement,
“And whoever desires other than Islam as religion – never will it be accepted from him, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.” — Surah Aale Imran (3) : 85
THE TENTH: Opposing the religion of Allah, not learning it nor practicing it. The proof for this is His exalted statement,
“And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord; then he turns away from them? Indeed We, from the criminals, will take retribution.” — Surah As-Sajdah (32) : 22
Therefore it is necessary for the Muslim to be cautious of these matters and fear these things for himself. We seek refuge in Allah from those things that necessitate His anger and severe punishment. And I send peace and salutations upon the best of creation (Muhammad ﷺ) upon his family, and companions.

Also, included in the fourth nullifier: Whoever believes that the [political] systems and laws that people have put in place are better than the Shari’ah of Islam, or that they are equal, or that it is permissible to rule by them even if he may believe that ruling by the Shari’ahis better, or that the system of Islam is not applicable in the twentieth century, or that it was a cause for the underdevelopment of the Muslims, or it is restricted to the relationship between man and his Lord without having any involvement with practical life affairs is a disbeliever.Furthermore, included in this section: Whoever holds that enforcing the rule of Allah of cutting the hand of the thief and stoning the fortified fornicator are not suitable for the present-day times, or whoever believes in the permissibility to rule by other than the Shari’ah of Allah in dealings, punishments, and other than that, even if he does not believe that it is better than the Shari’ah. Because by doing that he has permitted what Allah has prohibited unanimously. And anyone who permits what is well-known in the religion as impermissible — like fornicatoin, alchol, interest, and ruling by other than the Shari’ah of Allah — is a Kaafir by the consensus of all of the Muslims.

We ask Allah to make all of us successful in that which pleases Him and that He guides us and all of the Muslims to His straight path, indeed He hears everything. I send salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
