The Crime of Fornication and relieving Oneself from its Evil Effects

In the name of Allaah, the Beneficent, Most Merciful. May peace and blessings be upon Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions. As for what follows;

Shiekh Bin Baaz, may Allaah have mercy upon him, was asked: “What is binding upon one who falls into the crime of fornication to clear himself from the effects of that?”

He, may Allaah have mercy upon him, answered: “Fornication is from the most disgusting of prohibitions and greatest sins. Allaah has threatened the polytheists, those who murder people without due right and the fornicators with a double torment on the Day of Ressurrection and remaining therein humiliated and debased due to the wickedness and severity of their crimes. As Allaah says:

“And those who invoke not any other diety along with Allah, nor kill such life as Allah has forbidden, except for just cause, nor commit illegal sexual intercourse and whoever does this shall receive the punishment. The torment will be doubled to him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace; Except those who repent and believe (in Islamic Monotheism), and do righteous deeds…” [25:68-69]

So it is upon the one who falls into anything of that nature to repent to Allaah a sincere repentance and follow that with true faith and righteous actions. A repentance is considered sincere if the repenter ceases from commiting the sin, is remorseful for what took place and is determined not return to that (all) out of fear of Allaah, magnifying Him, hoping for His reward and dreading his punishment. Allaah the Most High says:

“And verily, I am indeed Forgiving to him who repents, believes (in My Oneness, and associates none in worship with Me) and does righteous good deeds, and then remains constant in doing them, (till his death).” [20:82]

Therefore it is obligatory upon every Muslim, male and female, to beware of this grave indecency and its pathways with the utmost caution and to rush to perform sincere repentance from what has preceded. And Allaah forgives and accepts the repentance of the true repenters.”
