He ﷺ smiled in the face of abuse …

In the name of Allah, all praise is due to He, The One. I send peace and blessings upon his final messenger (Al-Mustafa), and upon his family, companions, and those that followed him in righteousness until The Day of Resurrection (Youm Al-Qiyaamah). To proceed:

After Salat Al-Asr Sh. Abdul-Rahman Al-‘Ajlaan (may Allah preserve him) reads one Hadith from Riyad As-Saliheen and gives a brief 5-10 minute explanation. This was today’s Hadith:

645. Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I was walking with Messenger of Allah ﷺ who was wearing a Najrani cloak with a very thick border when a bedouin happened to meet him. He took hold of the side of his cloak and drew it violently. I noticed that the violence of jerk had bruised the neck of Messenger of Allah ﷺ . The bedouin said: “O Muhammad! Give me out of Allah’s wealth that you possess.” Messenger of Allah  turned to him and smiled and directed that he should be given something.

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

The Shaykh mentioned that this Hadith is taken from the chapter “Forgiveness of the Ignorant” and how this bedouin was obviously ignorant. He came straight to The Prophet ﷺ and dealt with him in a very harsh manner. He called him by his first name, something the companions never did, and grabbed his cloak until it bruised his neck ﷺ. Finally, he didn’t say, “Give me from your money or your fathers money”, but he said, “Give me out of Allah’s money.” This money (Bait Al-Maal) was the money for supporting the Muslims, something that even he ﷺ would go hungry and not touch. Yet, he ﷺ just smiled and gave him the money.

The Shaykh’s farewell advise was that when anyone wants to have good behavior he should build and start with the behavior of The Prophet ﷺ.May Allah make us from those who have good behavior and follow the Sunnah of our beloved prophet ﷺ, Ameen!

And all prays due to Allah the lord of the worlds, and the peace and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his companions.
